Old Pets

Well, last week was the worst week as a pet owner. It started when Charlie, my lab, fell ill last weekend. It ends up that he most likely has a malignant tumor around his spleen and will eventually bleed to death. So, after 3-4 days of crying, I came home on Thurs to find my older horse flat on his back. It appears that he laid down to roll and could not get back up! Called the vet, he gave him pain killers and we got him back on his feet. Horses have very sensitive "innards" so he got very sick from lying on the ground for so long.

Both animals are stable now> could never imagine that my 2 elderly animals would get sick in the same week. Oh well, I have had my horse since I was 12 (he is 28) and I have had Charlie for 10 years (he is almost 15). Both have had long lives> just hard to let go when I know I will have to sooner than later.
